Woods were lovely dark and deep...

My first attempt to write a story :) A story weaving competetion i took part in...the first line and the last line was given and i had to weave the rest... The woods were lovely dark and deep , the wind brushed her hair and a little whisper kissed her ears as she walked carelessly. She forced herself to listen to a faint sound in the distance, which grew stronger as she walked ahead. Once or twice she took a step back, scared to loose her way in the midst of discovering the source of this disturbing sound. A few more yards she crossed and started to hum a familiar tune. A smile crossed her face... a hope ran through her spine, more than one thought at a time forced her to take two steps instead of one. She knew for sure it could not be a stranger humming the tune, for this was the song her mother composed while she taught her how to walk the first few steps of life. When she learnt to walk without holding her mother's hand she sang the song to lead her brother through the roads of life. A strong wind blew and took her to the past...
Bright colored balloons dotted the sky ,birds chirped flying towards the nest, while two little children ran towards the beach. A shrill voice from behind "be careful honey, he’s too small to get into the water"- screamed their mom and ran behind them. The air was filled with happiness and joy for the children ,who played endlessly jumping and running in the sand. The lady sat far from the kids and watched the water kiss her children's feet each time it hit the beach. The sun was drowning, little did the children realize it was time to go home until their mom screamed again. "I have just built a castle on his hand mom, let me finish this and we'll leave" screamed back her daughter who was half way through building the mud castle on her brothers hand. She walked towards her kids to have a closer look at their art. As she walked she heard a siren blow. There was something different about the way the siren sounded, it was not the usual three time blow and stop sound. She looked around to see people flea in more than one direction and sensed some danger. She started running towards her kids, screaming while she was running. A sense of fear wrapped her voice, the kids could not hear her this time. As she came close to them the kids looked at her wondering what made their mother run so franticly. She held her daughters hand and pulled her away from the beach and yelled "hold your brother's hand, we have to run...fast", nothing more could she say. While they headed towards the sand, the boy realized that his balloon was tied to a little stem where they played. The innocent boy forced himself out of his sister's hand and ran towards the balloon. As they ran towards the sand, they learnt that the tides were unexpectedly high this day. While they reached the road, the little girl pulled her mother's frock ,to gain her attention and pointed her finger towards the water. Unable to speak or cry, the lady ran towards the water only to be stopped by the boatmen. All her efforts to try and reach her son went in vain. The little girl stood behind weeping ,unable to forgive herself for having let her brother be taken away by the angry waves. Days passed, months went by and it was over a year since she heard her mother sing, or she hummed the song once they once sang together. A thorn caught her feet,” Ouch..."she squealed and walked out of her past. She waited to listen to the growing sound and ran towards it, not bothering to stop by either a stone or thorn. She saw from a distance a faint figure ,sitting on a rock beside a lake singing the song. Happiness made her speachless, tears rolled down her cheeks as she went near the lake. She mustered the courage to shake the boy who was sitting on the rock singing. The only thing which spoke now was the silence, which both of them wanted to break. Tears of joy struck the children while they hugged each other.” I thought you were dead" said the girl,” where were you all this while?”. The boy told her that he was washed by the water towards a tree and was caught in one of its branches. One fisherman found him and housed him all this while. They ran now to thank the fisherman and then fled to see their mom. When they reached home, her mom looked at them for a minute, hit herself on her head and headed towards her room. She thought it was just a dream. The little girl ran behind her, held her hand and cried "mom, it really is your son this time...".She saw her mother cry in joy. The face which had forgotten to smile was now filled with an undying glow. Her mother hugged both of them and promised not to leave them again. The walk through the woods was indeed a walk to remember which brought them together and they lived happily ever after.
